Yes, Graphite is a client side web app. Just install it as a PWA if you need to open it without an internet connection. Note that the font catalog, provided by Google Fonts, will be unavailable, so text will not work but everything else will. |

It is supposed to work if you properly install the PWA using the instructions posted above. The app launcher can be opened using the copy that was cached when last accessed while connected. You may need to research troubleshooting steps why that's not working in your specific browser and OS combination, but that is outside the range of help we're able to provide since it pertains to the browser software and not Graphite software. That's all well and good. I've taken a look at your software and tried to compare it to Inkscape. It seems your approach is much more modern with its node-based editing capabilities, and your further goals appear to be very ambitious. Nevertheless, I would be extremely pleased if you could develop a user-friendly EXE installer for Windows 10/11/(12). I'm a user, not a developer, and installations need to be completely trouble-free and fully automatic for me. I certainly won't be using the web version, and I strongly criticize you for releasing something like that when we should all be striving to be as resource-efficient as possible. Every web-based application inevitably incurs server and traffic costs (eco-waste). That's simply unacceptable and completely unnecessary. I'm a strict opponent of this. I understand that this way your software can even be offered/used on an iOS or Android smartphone, which certainly seems great, but it's simply unnecessary. Graphics are created on a computer, and we don't need to participate in every little thing that contributes to the further destruction of our wonderful planet. Convert your source code to Vulkan (if you haven't already), and you can then easily support the most important platforms and offer installers for them. This is now properly resolved as of #3985. https://dev.graphite.art is the dev branch and this will make its way into the stable release when the next update arrives. |
