Backstage and InnerSource

A number of ISPOs are at an organization that uses Backstage. While its use isn't only for InnerSource, the principles of discovery, self-service, and contribution are all aligned with InnerSource - so often it is related and is an enabler.

So, do you use Backstage at your organization? What are the scenarios that it helps you meet? Is it directly connected with InnerSource?

We have started rolling it out. We added a prompt library, and are hosting our MCP registry on it.

I've asked the core maintainers of the deployment to look at https://www.npmjs.com/package/@backstage-community/plugin-bazaar as a potentially useful plugin. I haven't been able to unpack it myself.
