[Problem/Bug]: WebView2 Browser Process Exited Unexpectedly.

What happened?

WebView2 is unable to load/initialize and it's blocking the App development.

We have added handler for CoreWebView2.ProcessFailed Event to know the exit code and reason for webview2 failing.
Below are the details, 1st Utility process exits, then Gpu process and finally Browser Process exits unexpectedly.

• Reason: Crashed

• ProcessFailedKind: BrowserProcessExited
• Reason: Unexpected

Importance

Blocking. My app's basic functions are not working due to this issue.

In the report you are saying that it never worked - you could check WPF sample app how to init webview2 and what is different there from what you are doing. Also get started guide.

Hi , Thanks for your reply.
We tried the above mentioned WPF sample browser app and it also has exactly same crash.
Sample app continuously showing popup with CHild process crash (Utility Process exited) with the same error code: 1073740791

Have you tried different devices and different wv2 runtime versions? Does Edge browser work on that device?
Could you try to delete user data folder or use different one?

I am seeing a similar issue: getting Exit Code -1073741819 with BrowserProcessExited.
Where can I find the details (eg. STATUS_STACK_BUFFER_OVERRUN | The system detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in this application.) for this particular Exit Code -1073741819 (and others)?

Hi @ShaunLoganOracle - those are windows error codes, you can check it in cmdline for example:

>CertUtil /error -1073741819
0xc0000005 (NT: 0xc0000005 STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION) -- 3221225477 (-1073741819)

Version reported here is 119.0.2151.72 you would need to test your app with the latest and create new bug with dump files for team to investigate.
