Improving extension implementation

Currently the extension implementation doesn't seem to be complete. I am trying to use fhir.r4.ukcore.stu3.currentbuild and uk.nhsengland.genomics.r4 which makes use of extensions on the Patient structure.

What needs to be done to get this functionality working? Happy to put work in here to complete it

Hi @iw-an ! 👋 Thanks for raising this.

Right now codegen does not support extensions. Since extensions are basically an unbounded array of objects, we’d like to better understand in what form you’d expect them to be generated.

As for profiles (like UK Core or Genomics), profile generation is still in the design stage — we’re figuring out what functionality codegen should provide there.

Would be great to hear your expectations so we can align the implementation.
