Trying mark down with babelmark3 I was surprised

I was surprised when trying mark down on babelmark (https://babelmark.github.io/?text=Hello+**Markdig**!) I typed
####Documenting Joes Project

and many of the processors including Markdig didn't get it. I am new to mark down, but I've done lots of LateX and some HTML so I'm used to mark up languages. Why shouldn't more of these get a simple header mark up? What am I doing wrong? It also didn't get my list.

  I went to https://www.markdowntutorial.com/ and when I pasted the above markdown text in, it came out perfectly. So I've done it correctly but don't understand why it didn't on babelmark.

Not sure to follow which part you typed: The ####Documenting Joes Project or the Hello **Markdig** ?

babelmark shows various implementations of Markdown, from which some of them are CommonMark compliant (like Markdig).

In the case of ####Documenting Joes Project you can see that it is also not working on GitHub directly (as GitHub is following CommonMark)

As specified in the specs, you need to put an extra space after the # as well as after the list items *:

Okay.... so can somebody point me to a good tutorial that teaches me to be compliant? So far, I'm not impressed with mark down as it seems much easier to just write html directly.
