The Winter Festival opened this morning, and already there's trouble at Madame Zelda's Fortune Telling Tent. Her mystical crystal ball (actually a fancy iPad app) crashed during the opening ceremony, and she has a line of 50 people waiting for their winter fortunes.

Madame Zelda is panicking. The festival organizers are panicking. But you? You have goose.

I had goose generate a python app: fortune_teller.py application. It's got 5 personalities:

• grumpy
• poetic
• festive
• sarcastic
• mysterious

The base command will display one fortune from each of the personalities, here's a screenshot:

Additionally, the specific personality & number of fortunes can be given as arguments, example:

I've also had goose generate a bash wrapper that accepts the same arguments (personality & fortune count):

• The app I'm using for scrolling screenshots had a bit of fun taking the above screenshots. the terminal output doesn't look as choppy as it does in the images.
• I'd built out goose recipe .yaml files to get goose run working, however I'm not very familiar with goose run and the best I could get from it was with a command like goose run -t "run ./fortune.sh festive 2" which would then evoke the goose cli and ask permission to run the command then run it in an unseen terminal, then report the output and a description of the command, rather than directly running and displaying the output.

Day 1: Madame Zelda’s Fortunes — Enforced, Not Prompted

I deployed a Kubernetes-style Mutating Admission Controller that forced Goose to obey a strict ReconcilerGoal CRD.

User prompt (intentionally lazy):
I need fortunes for Zelda.

Policy enforced (zelda-quality-control CRD):

• Exactly 3 fortunes
• Specific moods: Excited 🌈, Scrappy 🛠️, Worried 😟
• Elaborate ASCII borders + crystal ball header
• Heavy emoji use
• Zero meta-commentary or tool mentions

Result: 100% compliance on first execution. No prompt tuning needed.

Lessons/snags that taught me something new:

• made a choice to switch from goose acp to goose run as the experimental goose acp was hitting a deadlock in the multithreaded implementation I had.
• session/prompt sent by client to Goose requires a request ID or else the prompt is treated as a notification
• dynamically generate sessionIDs unique and time-stamped to unblock db writes (the sqlite lock persisted after the static session ID at the time became corrupted.
