Description
Hello,
While preparing to load the SOFA macOS feed into a common Power BI model, we noticed that the stored release dates for macOS 13.0.1, 13.2.1, and 13.3.1 appear to be incorrect. When we looked at 13.0.1 specifically, API v2 and v1 (and SOFA UI) report a release date of 2024-06-12, instead of the expected 2022-11-09. This appears to mirror the publication and release dates on this page, respectively: https://support.apple.com/en-us/103096. The same pattern exists with 13.2.1 and 13.3.1's entries and associated Apple KBs, leading these two to appear to have released on the same day.
For macOS 12, this appears to also impact: 12.2, 12.2.1, 12.3, 12.3.1, 12.5.1, 12.6, 12.6.1, 12.6.3, and 12.6.5
While our institutional focus is now on macOS 14+, macOS 12 and 13 aren't as important to us anymore. That said, there may be times when we will be taking on departments not currently MDM managed and will need to track compliance progress. Our overall hope was to be able to use this data model to be able to answer questions like:
- Based on an inventory report generated on X date, where a Mac was on Y version:
- Was it on the latest major version at the time?
- Was it on the latest minor version at the time?
- Was the major version at that time considered n-2?
- After an OS update declaration is sent to devices, how long does it take a user to perform the update? How long does it take the majority of the organization to move to the required version? Is our deadline period appropriate?
Because we are hoping to analyze the data longitudinally, having accurate date ranges would be helpful to avoid us having to manually redefine values in the data. Perhaps with v2 still being finalized, there might be a opportunity or capability to correct these source values?
Thanks!
