Excluding Applications

Hello!

I just started using Rectangle Pro and it has already solved the main thing I wanted it to do.

As it seems there isn't a manual, and I am the least technically proficient person on the planet, is there a way to exclude certain applications?

I have it set up, using "Layouts", to automatically resize/place every window I open on my Mac globally to a certain size/placement, which is brilliant, but I want to just except a few apps from this default behavior, mainly the OSX finder.

Is there a way to do this?

There is no way to do this yet. I'll add your +1 to my task for this. The manual will probably make it out the door before this.

Ryan thanks so much! Your app works so beautifully...saved me from having to buy a new MacBook. It's just the finder and a graphics program that I would like to use with multiple windows. Everything else is working beautifully.

Hey now that I think of it, as a temporary thing, instead of having this global behavior I wanted, I realize I don't use too many apps on this laptop, just the browser, mail, a couple of other things. Can I instead do it a different way so that the windows in only th0se apps open with the size/poision thing I set up? Instead of the global thing?

Yes, you'll want to position your windows where you want them and then in the Rectangle Pro menu bar menu select Save Current Layout…. In the configuration for that Layout, you can again select that Apply when window opens checkbox. Of course, it would have been useful to have a manual describe this up front!

Hi. I just tried doing it that way and it works perfectly. Just pick the applications I use in full-screen, and it leaves the others alone. Terrific!

Actually this is a much better solution, at least for me Once I realized that you can be app-specific, it's actually much better to do it this way, as I realized I use app's workspace differently. The ability to specify different behavior on different monitors is fabulous also, something I didn't even know existed when I first looked at Rectangle Pro. It very much changes what I initially started using it for, which was a damaged MacBook, and I am already incorporating it into my regular orchestration and arranging workflow on my main Mac Pro.
