Describe the bug

Warp starts successfully (process is running, menu bar shows "Warp") but no window is rendered on screen. This started happening after using Warp with an external monitor (LG UltraGear) and then disconnecting it.

Environment

  • MacBook Pro: MacBookPro11,3 (Late 2014, Intel Core i7 2.3GHz)
  • macOS: Sonoma 14.6.1
  • Warp version: 0.2026.03.04.08.20.stable_02
  • External monitor: LG UltraGear (connected via external display)
  • Window manager: Rectangle

Steps to reproduce

  1. Use Warp on an external monitor
  2. Disconnect the external monitor and use the laptop standalone
  3. Reconnect the external monitor
  4. Launch Warp — no window appears

What I tried

  • Reinstalled Warp via brew reinstall --cask warp
  • Deleted ~/Library/Application Support/dev.warp.Warp-Stable
  • Deleted ~/Library/Group Containers/2BBY89MBSN.dev.warp
  • Rebooted the machine
  • Disabled GPU acceleration via defaults write dev.warp.Warp-Stable DisableGPUAcceleration -bool true
  • Tried Rectangle to resize the window (window menu items are all greyed out)
  • Confirmed via AppleScript: every window returns error (-1728), window count is 0
  • Confirmed via system log: _appHasNonMiniaturizedWindow=0
  • windows table in warp.sqlite is empty

Expected behavior

Warp should render a terminal window on launch.

Additional context

Similar to #4018 but different — in that issue the window existed but was not visible. In my case, the window is never created (count = 0).

cmd+N has no effect. Window menu items are all greyed out.

To reproduce

  1. Install Warp on Intel Mac (MacBookPro11,3) running macOS Sonoma
  2. Use Warp with an external monitor connected
  3. Close Warp while external monitor is connected
  4. Disconnect the external monitor
  5. Launch Warp on the built-in display only — no window appears
  6. Reconnect the external monitor and launch Warp — still no window appears

Does this block you from using Warp daily?

No

Is this an issue only in Warp?

Yes, I confirmed that this only happens in Warp, not other terminals.
