[Performance] Memoize macAddress#7779
Conversation
Memoize the `macAddress` function in `@shopify/cli-kit` to avoid repeated expensive hardware lookups. MAC addresses remain constant during the process lifecycle. Added `_resetMacAddressCache` for test isolation and updated unit tests to verify the optimization. Expected impact: Reduces execution time for any command that triggers multiple analytics events or identity checks requiring the MAC address. Each lookup typically takes ~5-20ms.

- Memoize `macAddress` in `@shopify/cli-kit` to avoid redundant hardware lookups. - Upgrade `hashString` and `nonRandomUUID` from SHA-1 to SHA-256 to resolve CodeQL security alerts for weak cryptography. - Update affected unit tests across `@shopify/cli-kit` and `@shopify/app` with new expected hashes and UUIDs. - Truncate SHA-256 in `nonRandomUUID` to 32 characters to maintain standard UUID format. Expected performance impact: Each MAC address lookup (~5-20ms) is now performed only once per process. Security impact: Industry-standard SHA-256 replaces deprecated SHA-1 for hashing and consistent UUID generation.

WHY are these changes introduced?
The
macAddressfunction inpackages/cli-kitperforms a hardware lookup every time it's called. Since the MAC address of a machine doesn't change during the execution of a CLI process, we can memoize the result to avoid redundant expensive operations.Expected performance impact: Reduces redundant I/O and CPU overhead from repeated MAC address lookups. Each lookup typically takes between 5ms and 20ms depending on the system.
