I don't know about the current build process for J, but it was a real problem in the past. I spent time generalizing and simplifying it, but my effort was ignored for years. I'm happy to lend my 40+ years of experience to check out your current build process, but not if it'll be ignored. |

This patch significantly simplifies the build process under Linux. Additionally, the source no longer needs to be in any special directory, and no environment variables need to be set. It now builds in-place - no other directory trees.
